Why You Should Quit Your Shit Job
I’m emotional; I’m sitting here with tears spilling down my cheeks, feeling heart-broken for those of you who are literally crying on your way to your 9-5 today. (I’ve been there, believe me.)
I’m hurting for those of you who are trying to build a business but, until your business can support you, feel trapped working a job that is fast-tracking you to a nervous breakdown.
I’m angry that society has done this to you. I’m frustrated that our world conditions us to think that this is OK. But I’m also extremely grateful that you’re reading this post because I want to give you some advice:
Your mental health is the most important thing you have and you must preserve it with everything you have.
I’m serious. If your job is giving you panic attacks you must leave.
You’ll tell me: But I need the money.
I’ll tell you: You need your mental health more, my darling.
You’ll tell me: But I can’t leave, I have a contract.
I’ll tell you: Stuff the fucking contract.
You’ll tell me: But there aren’t many jobs in my town to replace this one.
I’ll tell you: You don’t need many jobs, you just need one.
I understand that you need a steady income to support you. But if the “steady” job that you’re in is making you sick, before long, you’ll be off sick with stress – is that what you want? Of course not.
Take some sick leave, book some time off, find another job, even if it’s a “shit job” – no job can be shitter than one that is making you feel like this.
If you have to take a job that’s less money, that’s fine! Sell some of your stuff, get a part-time lodger, cut down on any unnecessary and frivolous spending for a little while. Just until you get yourself back on an even keel.
No job is worth your tears and the one that is won’t make you cry (except tears of joy).
Want work that makes you cry tears of joy but can’t figure out what that work could possibly be? That’s what I’m here to help you with. My area of expertise is helping you to find your what work will make you happy and keep you motivated – and it’s a lot of fun!
